"I BELIEVE IN LOVE AFTER MARRIAGE." -- SUDIP GIRI

CHILDHOOD

Sudip Giri's hometown is Chitwan but for the past few years he has been residing in Kathmandu with his family. He was born to Bhumi Raj Giri and Mina Giri in Chitwan on April 25, 1982. During his early days he was more interested in playing games rather than singing. Therefore, while studying in grade four he started practicing Taekwondo and participated in many Taekwondo competitions. He still remembers the day he broke both his legs.

ENTRY INTO THE MUSIC SCENE

While in school, music was just a hobby. Sudip had never in his wildest dream thought he would make a career in the Music field. It was after coming to Kathmandu to further his study that he developed a passionate interest in music. On one of his college functions, he gave his first stage performance. He was 17 years old then.

By now, he had made up his mind that he wanted to make a career in music. With this intention and a firm belief in himself, he formed a band called 'Octave-C'. However, the band was not able to carry on much longer. Whatever the reasons may be, Sudip didn't give up hope and never lost his determination. He decided to go solo. In 2004, he released his debut album 'Canvass'. It was a decent success and thus, he was able to introduce himself as a talented artist.

During his initial days in the music scene, Sudip never received any form of support from his family but his friends were always there constantly egging him on. They were the ones who continously encouraged him to move ahead throughtout his struggling days. With gratitude he says, "My friends were the ones who helped me financially to record the songs for my first album.Without their help and support 'Canvass' would not have been possible."

Few months back, Sudip released his second album 'Frenz' in the market, which is also doing pretty good. "'Frenz' is quite different from 'Canvass'. The songs on 'Frenz' has flavors of rock and I have tried incorporating fusion with pop music." shares Sudip.

So far, he has performed at numerous music concerts at various places of Nepal. He has also been able to be in the nomination lists of many music awards and has also succeeded bagging the title of 'Best New Artist' at The Image Awards 2005, besides being honored with many such other awards.

Besides being a popular singer, Sudip has also won the title of 'Black Belt First Don' in Taekwando. In various competitions, he has succeeded to win gold medals as well.

LOVE AND MARRIAGE

Love is a feeling and it is an understanding between two people. As for marriage, it is an important social obligation, a necessity to carry on your legacy. I believe in love after marriage.
